Valley Forge was a small cutlery company that started up in the late 1800's. When Boker wanted to start manufacturing knives in the US in response to the McKinley tarriffs circa 1890's, they purchased the small Valley Forge plant and it became the Boker USA plant in Maplewood, NJ. Boker used both the Valley Forge and Boker USA trademarks. The Valley Forge name was used on high quality knives pre WWII but after the war it was used on a limited basis on less expensive knives. was owned by Boker USA 1899-1950. The original Valley Forge Cutlery was in business 1892-1899.
Valley Forge Cutlery Co Newark Nj jigged bone Knife that measures 9,7 cm closed having a 7 cm folding blade with fuller marked at the front ricasso *Cutlery Co Newark NJ Made in USA* and stamped VF in a circle on the pile side tangs that were made prior to Boker who started this tang marking around 1916.
Nickel silver top and bottom bolsters which show no dings, nickel silver escutcheon. Brass pins/liners, good looking jigged bone handles that show no chips or cracks. Carbon steel blade appears full, with minor staining/pitting, no wobble in th locked open position
