The framed micro-mosaics items dates from the 1860s or 80s and are in excellent condition. Measuring 14mm x 10mm, they were made using a careful technique that involves creating an image from small pieces of opaque enameled glass, called 'enamels'. tesserae. The tiny mosaics were developed in the second half of the 18th century by the Vatican mosaic workshop. In the 19th century, many independent studios dedicated to the production of these small souvenirs were created to meet the demand of travelers.
