 A fabulous pair of carved teardrop natural shell earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era

The earrings are adorned with rose-cut diamonds and garnets set in a beautiful silver and 9Kt yellow gold setting, dangling below is an elongated tortoise link which is teardrop in shape.

The shell has a rich, deep brown color with light amber and caramel hues that are visible throughout. Despite their substantial size, the earrings are very lightweight and comfortable to wear.

These earrings were much probably set with a reverse sleeper closure that has been somewhen replaced with a with a hinged loop that slips over the post of the earring. The lever back is signed with the maker’s mark , the 0.375 (9Kt) gold and 900 silver guarantee hallmarks and the word Italy.

Total length is 85 mm, teardrop length 50 m long. This item is in excellent condition with no damage to the shell and no dents
