Italy has an ancient tradition in knife making and a great variety in shapes and models with dozens of antique models dedicated to work, defence, personal use; In some areas of Italy a knife could be also used as a token of love or as an engagement /wedding knife or a personal present. Italy has its identity as a unitary state only since 1861. The origin and the diffusion of traditional knives followed the ancient political and administrative division of the country that doesn’t coincide with the current division into regions.
This very nice folder is of Italian origin from Sicily
It measures 12,5 cm long when closed and 22 cm long when fully extended.
Turned and checkered horn handes with no supporting liners and brass fittings. The typical shoe by the end of the grip is made by a brass foil
The knife remains in great antique condition, normal overall pitting to the steel parts due to time.
Blade is pointy with the edge slightly shrpened, opens and closes properly with a very slight up and down play in the locked open position.
