Rare early 19th Century Combined QUILL CUTTER/WAX SEAL

 

This is an 19th-century double sharpener - the thin blades designed to shape quill nibs.

One end has an oval dish which can be engraved with owner’s monogram to be used as wax seal.

Wonderfully preserved chocolate high grade tortoise shell slabs, brass pins and brass liners

Size: Length: closed 9.3cm. The blades measure 3.5 cm approximately.

Condition is wonderful mainly considering age and type. Fully functional. The hinges are strong, blades are in full profile, still sharp and open firmly without wobbling
