JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS, NO. 6 NORFOLK ST. SHEFFIELD LOCK BACK STAG FOLDING KNIFE, C1880

This 25cm long lock back deer stag folding knife was made by the renewed Joseph & Rodgers Cutlery Company . Based on the tang which reports the No 6 Norfolk St. / Sheffield address with NO *England* that was introduced in 1891 I can argue that the knife won’t date after 1890. 11 cm spare point blade, which appears to be full. The blade has its original polish and could have been sharpened a little bit, some natural pitting due to age. a pump on the back spine releases the blade from the locked open position. Front ricasso* No.6 Norfolk St. Sheffield*. The back with the famous Star and Maltese cross mark registered by Rodgers in 1764. Stamped across the blade *Joseph Rodgers & Sons* The blade is topped with a nice deer stag horn handle with an oval German silver shield for owner’s initials or name and German silver bolsters. Four steel pins or rivets secure the grips Aside a tiny crack on the back scale by the upper pin the handle remains in excellent condition
