Trapani (Sicily) 1825-30 gilded copper pendant earrings made in three sections. The upper part of oval shape and the lower part of hexagonal shape each with a suspended bunch of grapes of chased gilded copper and seed pearls. Traces of dark blue enamel highlight the delicate golden chisel around the bunches of grapes. At the center two gilded copper swinging leaves. Grape is a true Sicilian symbol of growth and prosperity. The Trapani area was and still is, strongly linked to the production of wine. These earrings feature a front hook closure typical and original of that period. The earrings com in their presentation case made of wood and covered with thin red leather lined in blue velvet. They measure nearly 5 cm from top to bottom. Earrings come from a private collection and are published in the book *Scaramanzia e superstizione nell' antico gioiello siciliano* (superstition in the ancient Sicilian jewel) by Laura Mercurio.
