Wonderful exemplar of a French *couteau facette*type folding knife from the renowned French knife maker Jacques Mongin, made in the 60s. Ring pull mirror polished blade with palm spring (palette loch system). Plain horn handles. 165 mm long when folded. The knife is in mint condition. The blade is in full profile and locks up tightly and firmly. Razor sharp. No damage to note to the handles, no dents to the steel parts- Exquisite detail, the finest materials, flawless craftsmanship, and superlative designs that transcend the best traditions of the Golden Age of French cutlery are all incorporated in the handcrafted knives of Mongin. Located in Biesles (Nogent), France, this small shop of artisans painstakingly create the edged works of art designed by master cutler, Jacques Mongin. The winner of the prestigious MOF (Meilleurs Ouvriers de France - Best Craftsmen of France) award in 1965, Jacques has recently retired, but his son, Daniel Margaux, has taken over and maintains this cutlery icon’s legacy. This wonderful exemplar was made directly by Jacques Mongin and is marked with the old stamp *Forge main/JM/Nogent-Inox*.
