Late 19th century gentleman s type multi-bladed knife with a total of 23 blades for various uses opening in both ends plus a pull out toothpick and tweezers set in the handles. This knife was made in Germany between the ages of 1887-1914 according to my research making this knife at least 100 years old. The knife handles are scales of wonderfully preserved tortoise shell with silver shield and bolsters. Back of the nail file type blade stamped * Marx & Co. Celebrated Cutlery* The knife remains in excellent condition, the blades have not lose anything of the original shape being in full profile, razor sharp and still locking up with a firm snap. Some overall pitting on the steel parts. The knife is brass lined and measures 8 cm long when folded. The tortoise shell scales are still luminous with nice gold areas. No damage to note.
