Very nice French Quill folding knife of the Empire Period 1798-1809. Flattened handles with wonderfully preserved mother of pearls scales over steel liners. The shell with wonderful pink, green and blue shadows. Scales inlaid with a rose gold central oval shield and two later rose gold discs. Bolsters are silver gilt with yellow gold overlay finely chased with floral decorations. Hallmarked with the French small guaranteed mark of the lictorian fasces used between 1798 and 1809. Two pen blades of different shapes folds onto the opposite ends of the knife. Bothe blades with firm snap. The knife remains in excellent condition mainly considering age. Steel parts with some normal pitting. No damage to note to the delicate shell scales
